We are domesticated now;
Clutched in the arms of monotony
And bated in a coveted net
Once we were unravelled
But inspired.
Lightbulbs crashed above our heads
Fighting for a moment of luminescence
In a glut of sparks
We sit here dazed
Searching for talent in old words
That once helped us feel bound in hope
Now we wait for our bones to crack,
our skin to flake and the ground to claim us
Consumed by a buried fear
That we’ve all become shallow
